PC & Laptop Upgrades Worcester

Most people replace a perfectly good computer because it has got slow. In the majority of cases it doesn’t need replacing at all. It needs a solid-state drive, and possibly a bit more memory.

That’s a comparatively small job, and the difference is dramatic. Machines that took two minutes to start up will be ready in under twenty seconds. Most customers tell us it feels faster than it did when it was new.

The two upgrades that make the biggest difference

A solid-state drive (SSD)

This is the big one. Older computers use mechanical hard drives with physically spinning parts, and they’re the reason everything feels sluggish. Swapping to an SSD is the single most noticeable improvement you can make to an ageing computer. We copy everything across, including your files, programs and settings, so it starts up exactly as you left it, only far quicker.

More memory (RAM)

If your machine slows to a crawl once you’ve got a few browser tabs and a document open, it’s short of memory. Adding more is usually inexpensive and makes everyday use much smoother.

Other upgrades worth considering

Graphics cards

for gaming, video editing or running multiple screens

Processor (CPU) upgrades

where the motherboard supports it

Power supply upgrades

often needed alongside a new graphics card

Cooling and fresh thermal paste

for machines that overheat and throttle themselves

Wi-Fi cards

for weak or unreliable wireless

Larger storage

if you’re constantly running out of space

A fresh Windows install

sometimes years of accumulated clutter is the real problem

Is my computer worth upgrading?

Bring it in and we’ll tell you honestly. As a rough guide:

  • Under about eight years old and feels slow, almost certainly worth upgrading
  • Won’t run software you need, or the motherboard has failed, may be time to replace
  • Somewhere in between, this is exactly what we’re here to advise on, and we’d rather give you a straight answer than sell you something you don’t need
From£85

What it costs

Our pricing is very reasonable and we’re happy to suit all budgets. To give you an example, having an SSD and Windows upgrade and all files transferred can cost as little as £85.

Whatever the figure, it will be a fraction of a comparable new machine, and you keep everything exactly where you left it.

We quote before we start, so there are no surprises. No fix, no fee · no call-out charge.

Upgrades for home, office and gaming

We upgrade home computers, office machines and gaming rigs, and we can work at our bench or on-site at your home or business across Worcester, Droitwich and Malvern.

If you’ve got a handful of ageing office machines, upgrading them is usually far cheaper than replacing the lot and causes much less disruption. We’ll come to you and do them in batches.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my files or have to reinstall everything?

No. We clone the existing drive across, so it comes back exactly as you left it: same files, same programs, same wallpaper.

How long does it take?

We aim to complete upgrades within a working day and can often turn things around the same day you call.

Can old laptops be upgraded, or just desktops?

Most laptops can. A few very thin models have components soldered in place, so ring us with the make and model and we’ll tell you before you bring it in.

Will it be as good as a new computer?

For everyday use, email, browsing, documents, streaming, usually indistinguishable, and often better than a cheap new machine.
