- Switch the computer off and stop using it if you can: every extra minute of use on a failing drive can make things worse
- Do not run repair tools, reinstall Windows or keep trying to restart it
- Do not open the case or shake or tap a drive that is clicking

Can you always get my files back?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Some failures are simple and some are not. We look first and tell you what is realistic.
Is my computer worth repairing as well?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We can often recover your files even when the computer itself is not worth repairing, and we will tell you which applies.
Should I keep trying to start it?
No. Repeated attempts can make a failing drive worse. Switch it off and ring us.
What if the drive has personal or business data on it?
We treat it as confidential and only look at what we need to in order to get your files back. If you ever want a drive wiped for good, see our data destruction page.
How long will it take?
It depends on the fault. We will give you an idea when we have looked at it.
