These terms are for computers that we build for you. They sit alongside our Terms and Conditions, Returns and Cancellation and Delivery and Collection. If anything here is different from those pages about a custom build, this page applies to the build. Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a private customer.

In short:

  • You pay in full before we start. We do not take cash on delivery for builds.
  • We order the parts after you pay, then build, install Windows and test the computer. It is ready in about 5 working days once all the parts have arrived.
  • If you change your mind, what you get back depends on how far we have got and which kind of build it is (section 5).
  • Parts that have been fitted cannot be sent back one by one (section 7).
  • Parts you give us, and second-hand parts, have their own rules (sections C7 and D of our Terms and Conditions).
  • If your computer is faulty, your legal rights and our warranty are explained in section 6.

1. The kinds of build

  • Ready-made builds: the standard computers shown on our website (for example the Beginner, Gamer, Serious Gamer and Pro Gamer ranges). We choose the parts. We build it only after you order and pay.
  • Your own specification: a computer you put together on our Build your own PC page, a ready-made build where you change any part, or a computer we quote for you after you tell us what you want.
  • Refurbished builds: a computer built with a refurbished (used, tested and checked) processor, graphics card, memory and drives, and a new motherboard, power supply, case and cooler, as the product page says. The refurbished parts are bought for you when you order. If one has sold out, we tell you within one working day and offer the nearest match or a full refund. Its warranty is the one shown on its page.
  • Dream builds and quotes: anything else we agree with you in writing (an email or message is enough). The quote, with the list of parts and the price, is part of your contract.

2. Price and payment

  • The price is the price shown at checkout, or in our written quote. It includes the parts listed, our build charge and, where it is shown, Windows. It does not include delivery unless we say so.
  • Parts prices move often. Once we have accepted your order the price does not change (except for the changes in section 3 and 4 that you agree to). A contract exists when we email you to accept your order.
  • You pay in full when you order, by the payment methods we offer. We do not start a build until payment has cleared. Ownership of the computer passes to you when we have been paid in full, and risk passes to you when you collect it or it is delivered.
  • If we find that a price or description is wrong, we will tell you and you can choose to buy at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • Pre-orders: for a computer that needs a part that is not in stock (for example an RTX 5090 graphics card), we do not take payment when you ask. We tell you the exact price and the date we expect the part, and you decide whether to go ahead and pay.

3. Parts, availability and substitutes

  • We order the parts from our suppliers after you pay. The parts and models on the page or quote are what we will fit. Small items such as cables, case fans, fixings and thermal paste may be a different make from the picture.
  • If a part is not available when we come to order it, we will tell you within one working day. You can choose: (a) an equal or better part that is compatible, at no extra cost to you; (b) a different part, with any difference in price added or refunded; or (c) a full refund.
  • We will not fit a different part without your agreement.

4. Changing your order

  • Ask us as soon as you can. Before we have ordered any parts, you can change your order free of charge. We tell you by email when the parts have been ordered.
  • After that we will try, but a change may not be possible, or may cost extra (for example a supplier charge for returning a part). We will tell you the cost before we do anything, and you can choose to carry on as ordered.

5. Cancelling and refunds

Every build on our website is made to order. We buy the parts for you after you pay and then build your computer. (A computer we have already built and hold in stock is not covered by these terms: it keeps the normal 14-day right to cancel, and its page says it is ready to collect.) Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 there is no 14-day right to cancel for goods that are made to order for you, and we tell you this on the product page and at checkout before you pay. We are fairer than the law needs:

  • Before we have ordered any parts: full refund. Tell us as soon as you can. We email you when the parts have been ordered.
  • After we have ordered the parts, before we have started building: if we agree to cancel, we refund what you paid less the costs we have properly had: a supplier restocking charge, the cost of sending parts back to the supplier, loss in value on parts that we cannot return or resell at full price, and the time we spend on ordering, handling and returning them. We will show you the figures. The total will never be more than 20% of the price you paid. We always try to return the parts or use them for another build first.
  • After we have started building: no refund, unless the computer is faulty or not as described (section 6).

Refunds go back to the card or method you paid with, within 14 days of us agreeing the refund. Nothing on this page limits your rights if the computer is faulty or not as described.

6. Faults, your legal rights and our warranty

  • By law the computer must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described. You can reject a faulty computer for a full refund within 30 days of receiving it. Within 6 months, if a fault was there when you received it, we will repair or replace it, or if that is not possible give a price reduction or refund. These rights are in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and nothing in our terms takes them away.
  • Our warranty on a build is the one shown on its product page or quote (the years for parts and the years for labour), confirmed in writing when you buy. It is extra to your legal rights. Parts: if a part we supplied fails in the parts period, we replace it. Labour: where the labour period shown is longer than the parts period, we do the work for nothing for the whole labour period whenever the part is one you bought from us, for a repair or an upgrade. It covers faults in the parts we supply and in our workmanship.
  • It does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, drops, power surges, misuse, viruses or software you installed, unauthorised repairs or modifications, normal wear (for example fans and thermal paste), or a fault that was caused by a part you supplied. Overclocking or BIOS changes beyond the settings we ship may affect the warranty, to the extent they caused the fault.
  • Free fitting of upgrades: for 5 years from the day you collect your computer, when you buy an upgrade part from us for it (for example more memory, a bigger drive, a better graphics card or a Wi-Fi card), we fit it at our shop for nothing. You pay for the part, not the labour. This is for simple fitting jobs of about an hour; it does not cover recovering or moving your data, repairing damage, or parts you bought elsewhere. Please book a time with us.
  • Many parts also carry the maker warranty. We deal with the maker for you where we can.
  • To make a claim, ring us on 01905 673738 or email [email protected] and tell us what is wrong. We will explain how to get the computer to us. Please back up your data first: we cannot be responsible for data on the computer.

7. Fitted parts

  • Once we have fitted parts, installed Windows and tested the computer, the parts are no longer new, unused goods. They cannot be returned one at a time, and a built computer cannot be taken apart for a refund of single parts unless a part is faulty.
  • A part that has been fitted, powered on or run cannot be taken back as new unless it is faulty or not as described.
  • Loose parts you buy from us separately (not as part of a build) are covered by our normal returns rules: unused, in the original packaging, within 14 days.
  • Parts we fit later as an upgrade are treated in the same way once fitted.

8. Parts you supply, and second-hand parts

Parts you give us to use (for example a case, a drive or a graphics card from your old computer):

  • We may decline to fit a part that is unsafe, damaged or not suitable. We will tell you before we start.
  • You confirm the part belongs to you. We check that it fits and runs when we test the build, but we cannot see every fault in a used part.
  • We do not give a warranty on parts you supply, and we are not responsible for faults that were already there, for a part that fails, or for a part that turns out not to work well with the new parts. If your part fails during the build we will tell you. We can fit a new one at the price we quote you first.
  • If a part you supplied has to be tested or worked on for longer than normal, we may charge for the extra time, but only if we agree it with you first.
  • Back up your data first. If you give us a drive, we are not responsible for the files on it.

Second-hand or refurbished parts that we supply: we only fit these when the product page or your quote says so clearly, with its condition and warranty. We never fit a second-hand part to a build without telling you.

Old parts we take out when we upgrade or rebuild your computer belong to you. Tell us if you want them back. Tell us too what to do with any drive and whether the data should be wiped: we will not wipe a drive unless you ask us to.

9. Build time, collection and delivery

  • The build time (about 5 working days) is an estimate, counted from when we have your payment and all the parts. Suppliers can run out of stock. We will tell you if it will be longer, and you can then choose to wait or take a refund.
  • We email you when your computer is ready. If you collect it, please bring photo ID and your collection code. We will switch it on and show it working before you leave, and we ask you to sign for it.
  • If you do not collect within 28 days of our email, we will contact you, and if we still cannot agree a new date we may charge a reasonable storage fee after warning you in writing, or cancel the order and refund you less the costs we have properly had (where the law allows).
  • Delivery is explained on our Delivery and Collection page. Please check the box when it arrives and tell us within 48 hours of any damage.

10. Windows and other software

  • Windows and other programs are supplied as licences. If you give us your own Windows key, you confirm it is genuine and yours to use.
  • Once a licence key has been given to you, or the software has been installed or activated, it cannot be returned or refunded (it is digital content), unless it is faulty or not as described.

11. Performance information

Frame rates, the level of player a computer suits and similar guidance are typical figures for the graphics card, from published tests. They are not a promise. How a game runs depends on the game, its settings, the screen, the drivers and updates, and other programs running.

12. Business customers

If you order as a business, the cancellation rights in sections 5 and 6 that come from consumer law do not apply. You cannot cancel once we have accepted your order, and the rest of these terms apply. We will always try to treat you fairly.

13. Questions and complaints

Ring 01905 673738 or email [email protected]. If we get something wrong, please give us the chance to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
